CheckPrep Privacy Policy

Information Collection

CheckPrep does not collect personal information. No names, email addresses, device identifiers, or account credentials are gathered. Your study progress, session history, bookmarks, and preferences are stored on your device and, if iCloud is enabled, within your personal iCloud account.

Data Usage

Your study data is used solely to track your progress and proficiency within the app. We do not sell, trade, or share your data with third parties.

Data Storage

All study progress and preferences are stored on your device using secure on-device storage. If you are signed in to iCloud, your study sessions, bookmarks, and preferences may sync across your devices using Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit services. This data remains within your personal iCloud account and is not accessible to us.

Network Activity

CheckPrep connects to the following U.S. government services to provide study content and training features:

• Aviation Weather Center (aviationweather.gov) - live METAR, TAF, and PIREP weather data for training exercises
• Federal Aviation Administration (faa.gov) - Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM) content, Advisory Circulars, FAA Handbooks, Letters of Interpretation, and Information for Operators (InFOs) for reference and study
• Electronic Code of Federal Regulations (ecfr.gov) - Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) for reference and study

No personal information is transmitted in these requests. As with any network connection, your device’s IP address is visible to the respective servers. All connections use HTTPS encryption.

iCloud Sync

If enabled, CheckPrep uses Apple’s iCloud services to sync your study progress, bookmarks, and preferences across your devices. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is governed by Apple’s privacy policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

Analytics

CheckPrep uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand general usage patterns such as which features are used most frequently and how study sessions are progressing in aggregate. TelemetryDeck is designed to operate without collecting personally identifiable information:

• All user identifiers are cryptographically hashed on your device before transmission. Neither CheckPrep nor TelemetryDeck can identify individual users.
• No names, email addresses, IP addresses, or device identifiers are collected or stored.
• No advertising identifiers or tracking profiles are created.
• No data is shared with advertisers or data brokers.
• Analytics data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you personally.

Third-Party Services

CheckPrep uses Apple’s standard platform services including the App Store, StoreKit, CloudKit, and iCloud. These services are governed by Apple’s own privacy policies. CheckPrep uses TelemetryDeck for anonymous, aggregated analytics as described above. No advertising, tracking, or data brokerage services are integrated.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your study data is stored on your device and in your personal iCloud account. You can delete your data at any time by deleting the app from your device. If iCloud sync is enabled, you can remove synced data through your iCloud settings. We do not retain any user data on our own servers.

Children’s Privacy

CheckPrep is an educational app designed for student pilots and aviation professionals. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
